USB Guardian is a program that will protect your system from malware coming from USB drives.
USB drives have become very popular, and this is why they are nowadays the favorite target for malware makers. There are a lot of worms and Trojans specially built to infect your system as well as you plug-in your pen drives, camera, or mobile phone.
This tiny program will stay in memory, checking every file that you read or copy from any USB device. It will place a small icon in the system tray that will let you access to the program’s configuration. Through it, you can set the program to auto start when your system does, choose the preferred delay period before opening the USB unit folder, and disable the auto run feature for every USB unit (you can keep the CD-ROM auto run active, if you want).
The first thing that the program will do, by default, is to block the access to the “autorun.inf” file on your removable device. This type of file is only really needed when you want to start your system booting up from a USB drive. If that drive is infected, an “autorun.inf” file can start up programs that may harm your computer. USB Guardian will also detect and lock any suspicious file that might be dangerous for your computer. When this happens, it pops up the program’s main window, offering you to unlock or delete the suspicious file.
